Sorry for the 3 week delay but we have surely been busy the last few weeks... especially with traveling back to Cleveland twice. I'm going to keep this short as Marnie has two crabby kids right now. I have no idea how someone could do this on their own! I will let the pictures and video below speak for themselves. Overall, things are going well! We have a busy summer scheduled while Marnie is off work so I'm sure we will have many more adventures to share!

Today is a sad day for the Schmidt Family. My grandma passed away this evening. She was 86 years old. I've been going through pictures all evening and it just felt right to post some. I never do good with this kind of stuff and typing this is extremely hard, yet comforting. Kendal got to hang out with her many times, I just wish Hayden could have met her in person. We are all going to miss you dearly.

All the grandkids with grandma
Hard to believe that Hayden is 4 weeks old already. It is amazing how different the two girls are. Kendal at this age was sleeping through the night and a very laid back kind of baby. Hayden on the other hand is up every 2-3 hours during the night and some nights she is up all night. She loves to be swaddled and as soon as she wakes up she starts crying until someone picks her up. I guess I won't have to worry about her getting a bald spot in the back of her head because she isn't laying down enough to get one.

We had Hayden's doctor appointment on Monday. Her stats are: Weight 8 lbs 4 oz, Height 21 inches and head 14 inches. She is still such a little peanut, but we are now into newborn clothing and out of the preemie clothes. Hayden is growing right on track. We also had her kidney tests last week. Thankfully she doesn't have the kidney reflux that Kendal has so no more antibiotic for Hayden.

Mandy came to visit for the past few days. It was a good thing since Hayden had a few all nighters for me. Plus she got to hang out with girls while I caught up on some sleep and cleaning. We managed to fit in a little shopping too.

Kendal has been enjoying herself outside. She loves to look at the pond and play with our fish. Also, a family of bunnies has made our yard their home. We see about 3 bunnies running around and Kendal has been chasing them in the yard. Hopefully, she doesn't catch one. She has been doing very well with Hayden. She is very protective of her baby sister, and yells at her friends if they try to touch her. She is adjusting well to our expanded family.

Enjoy new pics below.

All is going good at the Schmidt house. So far it has been fairly easy, but we will see what happens this week when Mike goes back to work.

Kendal actually has been helping getting diapers and finding the TV remote for me when I accidentally misplace it for the millionth time. Kendal seems like such a big girl now. She is talking in sentences and her English is probably better than mine most of the time. She is able to count to 5 and say her ABC's, when she is in the mood. She is obsessed with birds right now, so she has been keeping us busy outside looking for birds. She loves looking in the pond at all of our fish. She was good this weekend so we took her to buy a new fish, she wanted a green fish. We settled on a yellow one, a white one, a calico one and two bull frog tadpoles (the green fish). So now we will have to let her feed them when it is nice outside. I hope the nice weather keeps up, the minute Kendal wakes up she is asking to go outside.

Hayden is a good baby. She normally sleeps 4-5 hour stretches at night, so I normally only have to get up once during the night with her. I hope that doesn't change when her jaundice is completely gone. She is becoming more alert and losing the new born look. She still is so little compared to Kendal at this age. Hayden is still in preemie clothes; maybe another week and we can start actually putting outfits on her instead of pj's all the time.

Two cute video links are below. One is of Hayden on her first night in the hospital. The other is of Kendal; it is kind of gross but too funny not to share. We are glad we invested in a video camera for moments like these! Mike still laughs out loud every time he watches it. Enjoy.

Kendal's Booger
I think I fixed the choppy HD video issues... I updated the links below to try out. If you still have problems you can do the following:

1) Download the source file. Same as last time, just click the link in the downloads section on the bottom right. Don't forget the xvid codec and just play it on your computers media player.

2) You can click the "HD is on" button on the right side in the video preview. Clicking it once will make it say "HD is off" and then you should be able to play the video better since you will now be viewing a low resolution copy of the video that any computer with a decent connection should be able to handle.

3) Buy a new computer! It works great on ours now.

We made it through the first week! Everyone is doing great and our new larger family has settled in nicely. Bringing Hayden home the first night was rough as she did not go to sleep until 5:30 in the morning! Good thing we had family around to take care of Kendal for us! All the Grandparents, Aunt Maggie, Mandy, and Uncle Timmy made the trip up to see everyone. It sure was a big help. Kendal and Hayden got lots of presents too! Thanks everyone! The 2nd night was better, and by the 3rd she was sleeping great between feedings!

Hayden became a little jaundice when she got home and we had to go get her blood drawn every few days so the doctors could keep an eye on it. It got better every day and she is well on her way back to normal now. It's no fun watching her get woken up by getting pricked in the heel to draw blood! Marnie does fine with that stuff but I'm a wimp.

Other than that, Hayden's first week has gone well; she is gaining some weight back and is just a few ounces shy of her birth weight. The kid eats great but she sure spits up a lot more than Kendal ever did! We still can't get over how she has almost no hair when Kendal came out with more hair than I have now! What Hayden does have is as blonde as can be. She has a birth mark under her nose and on the back of her neck. The doctor said they are the kind that should fade in a year or so. She also has the "angel kiss" spot of her forehead like Kendal only fainter. A perfectly healthy little girl! All we could ask for!

All the neighbors stopped by the hospital to meet baby Hayden and have been a huge help over the last week by cooking for us and taking Kendal off our hands to go to the park, bike rides, etc. Thanks everyone! Plenty of gifts as well, much appreciated!

Kendal is doing great too... she has adapted quite well to being a big sister. We have been doing our best to pay equal attention to her as well and it seems to be working. Our first walk around the block was interesting as Kendal had to be pushed in a stroller like her little sister! She is a little rough holding Hayden at times but is getting better! She did great today when we got their pictures taken! She has not woken up once at night even if Hayden is screaming at the top of her lungs. Overall, I don't think it could be going much better. I plan to go back to work next week. Good luck hunny! At least Kendal will go to daycare 3 days a week still. On to a ton more pictures below!
