Our family is still recovering from last week. Kendal is getting used to her cast and is pretty much back to her old self. She is a little crabbier than normal but she might be bored since she can't play with some of her toys for the time being. Mike is starting to feel better too; he has another doctor’s appointment Tuesday. Kendal doesn't go back to the orthopedic surgeons until Feb 2; hopefully her cast will come off that day as well. A few pictures below, some pre-injury, and some post-injury. Enjoy.

Update: Kendal slept through the night fine last night without a peep (as always)! She had a great day at daycare today as well. This kid is amazing; she is acting as if this never happened. I'm still a little sore but my heart is definitely broken :< Today was a much better day to say the least.

Kendal is already in bed tonight... and we just realized her cast glows in the dark! Anyone that wants to sign her cast, you better hurry, she is running out of room!

Well, we usually don't post two days in a row, but today has been a day we won't soon forget. The day started off like every other day waking up about 6am to get Kendal ready for school (daycare). After I got Kendal all bundled up and ready to go, we were walking down the steps and I seemed to have missed the third step. I was holding her on my chest with her head over my left shoulder. By the time I reached the bottom she was face down over my right hip. My back immediately started to hurt and Kendal started screaming at the top of her lungs. Marnie was right behind me and immediately picked up Kendal to try and calm her down. After I got myself up I realized I did not break anything (I think) but will have some pretty severe bruising (already started!). Kendal did not stop crying for at least an hour and she was just not acting like her normal self, so we took her to the ER to make sure she was ok. A ton of people came to see her and could not find anything wrong with her. Everyone was basically focusing on her head since that was everyone's biggest concern. When she fell I took the big blow so she was fairly protected, we don't even think her head hit anything. The one thing Marnie did notice was that she would not put any weight on her left foot... we initially thought is was because she got a flu shot in that same leg yesterday and that it could be sore. We got X-rays anyway and found a fracture just above her left knee. The break was one of the better forms of a fracture to have (buckle fracture). The cast goes from her hip to her toes to make sure it stays in place. The doctors said should be all healed up in a couple weeks and will never know it happened. They also said the fracture was out of the growth plate so this should not lead to any issues in the future. I guess it could have been worse. What a day. A picture of her X-ray is below and she was all smiles when we finally got home. Lets hope tonight is better!

Wow, it has been a long time since I have posted anything. Sorry. We all have been very busy. Mike started finishing the basement, we have joined a volleyball league with the Abbott’s and the Kreider’s and Kendal is working on more solid foods like fresh fruit and cheerios. Mandy and Aunt Maggie came for a visit this past weekend and we had a very good time with them. Today was Mike's birthday, so Jaclynn and Jason watched Kendal and we got to go out to dinner without Kendal. Then we all enjoyed Coldstone ice cream cake together. Kendal enjoyed having the cake box on her head, it was actually quite humorous. I will be posting pictures as I get them from various family and friends since we always forget to bring our camera with us.

A few pictures and a funny movie that we have now are below:

Look at all of my new beautiful clothes, can you find me in the pile?

Mom and Dad ready for a night out, Happy New Year 2007!
Kendal's first New Years Eve was a blast for all of us. Marnie and I went out to the Rockbottom Brewery with Timmy, while Grandma and Grandpa Schmidt watched Kendal for us. It was the first time we were away from Kendal overnight, it was nice but weird so we went home early to see our smiley girl. We were told that Kendal woke up at 11:59pm screamed, cried for a few seconds and fell back asleep. That must have been her way of bringing in the new year. Kendal finally has all of her new toys home and she is having a riot playing with them and we couldn't get her to go to bed tonight. Thanks again everyone for all of the great gifts. Can we say we have a spoiled child on our hands?
